It all started when I was pregnant with my first daughter back in 2004 and had nothing much to wear! I remember I blew $300 on a pair of imported designer maternity jeans, only to find it too tight and unwearable after  just one month.  Needless to say, my husband was equally horrified at the expenses incurred for a maternity wardrobe but neither did he want me dressed in moo-moo outfits or the same outfit day after day.

It was then we first came across the idea of renting maternity wear in Taiwan and the U.S, and immediately we thought: Brilliant!

The option of renting maternity clothes would allow expectant women the chance to enjoy a wide variety of quality clothing for a fraction of the price to buy. It would also ensure they get the best fit and style at every stage of their pregnancy.

And so, Maternity Exchange was born in July 2005. The model we developed marries all the best elements and allows customers a myraid of options from buying brand new, renting a la carte, renting through a package, buying pre-loved items at a lower price, and purchasing after renting. I like to think we have empowered women to choose the the option that works best for them depending on their needs. Add to that, we've brought in all the best brands from the world over, so shopping for clothes is no longer the same with Maternity Exchange!

I remember one customer who came back to us for all three of her pregnancies, who exclaimed that she loved shopping with us as "the clothes were so pretty" and "she had more clothes than ever with our flexi buy or rent options".  I certainly want all my customers to feel this excitement and fun dressing up during their pregnancies and while nursing after.
